چکیده
We discuss several methods that improve the partial-global stochastic Metropolis (PGSM) algorithm for smeared link staggered fermions. We present autocorrelation time measurements and argue that this update is feasible even on reasonably large lattices. Smeared link actions have gained popularity in recent years. These actions have many desirable features: improved flavor symmetry with staggered fermions, smaller perturbative matching factors, better topology, etc [1]. What hinders the use of these smeared actions is the difficulty of dynamical simulations with standard molecular dynamics type algorithms. Recently it was suggested that even projected smeared link actions can be effectively simulated with partial-global heatbath or over-relaxation updates that are combined with a Metropolis type accept-reject step [2]. In this paper we summarize some of the improvements that make this partial-global stochas-tic Metropolis (PGSM) update truly effective.

We present a refined calculation of the η ′ mass using staggered fermions and Wuppertal smeared operators to suppress excited state contributions. We use quenched and dynamical configurations of size 16 3 × 32, with N f = 0, N f = 2 and N f = 4, and compare our results with the expected theoretical forms from quenched, partially quenched, and unquenched chiral perturbation theory.

Numerical simulations of full QCD on anisotropic lattices provide a convenient way to study QCD thermo-dynamics with fixed physics scales and reduced lattice spacing errors. We report results from calculations with 2-flavors of dynamical fermions where all bare parameters and hence the physics scales are kept constant while the temperature is changed in small steps by varying only the number of...

We report on our study of two-flavor full QCD on anisotropic lattices using O(a)-improved Wilson quarks coupled with an RG-improved glue. The bare gauge and quark anisotropies corresponding to the renormalized anisotropy ξ = as/at = 2 are determined as functions of β and κ, using the Wilson loop and the meson dispersion relation at several lattice cutoffs and quark masses.
